DALLAS, Tex. – The Utah Jazz received a big boost from their second unit in their 123-119 win over the Dallas Mavericks. They won their third straight game and finished the back-to-back stretch against the Rockets and Mavericks with victories.

Jordan Clarkson led the Jazz with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists on 10-17 shooting from the field and 4-8 from beyond the arc in 31 minutes before fouling out of the game. Emmanuel Mudiay added 12 points off the bench. He received the rotation minutes that normally go to Mike Conley but the starting point guard did not play due to rest on the second game of a back-to-back. Georges Niang chipped in 7 points and Tony Bradley had 6 points and 7 rebounds. The Jazz had 50 bench points, while Dallas had 36 points from their second unit.

Tim Hardaway Jr. led the Mavericks with 33 points, Kristaps Porzingis contributed 28 points and Seth Curry scored 15 off the bench.

Jazz Halt Mavericks’ Run

The Jazz had a 21-point lead at the halftime break 71-50. In the third quarter, the Mavericks continued to chip away at the deficit and cut the lead to three points with 4:41 left in the third period. But, Utah did waver as Mudiay and Clarkson gave the Jazz a boost at the end of the third quarter as the duo combined to score 13 of the Jazz final 16 points to give the Jazz a 100-84 lead entering the fourth quarter.

The bench continued their strong play in the fourth quarter by scoring the first 14 points of the period before any starter scored. But, Dallas didn’t give up, they were trailing by 19 points with 6:12 remaining in the game when they cut the lead to five points with 2:41 left.

The Jazz stuck with it down the stretch and had some key baskets from Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.

Red-Hot Shooting

Utah was very effective on the offensive end of the floor. As a team, they shot 46-78 for 59 percent from the floor, 15-35 for 43 percent from downtown and 16-21 for 76 percent from the free throw line.

Mitchell finished with 23 points and 4 rebounds on 8-12 field goal shooting and 3-6 from the perimeter. Bojan Bogdanovic carried the momentum from hitting the buzzer-beating three-pointer to give the Jazz the win against Houston the previous night to scoring 23 points against Dallas on 7-16 shooting.

Rudy Gobert recorded 17 points, 16 rebounds and one block, while shooting a perfect 7-7 from the floor.

The Mavericks made 47 percent of their shots from the field, 35 percent from the three-point line and missed just five free throws.

The Jazz improved their record to 35-18 on the season. They will return home to face the Miami Heat on Wednesday night in the final game before the NBA All-Star break. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet.
