Cam Rising Passes Alex Smith On Utah’s Career Passing Yards List

LAS VEGAS – Cam Rising passed Utes legend Alex Smith on the program’s all-time passing yards list during Utah’s first possession of the Pac-12 Championship Game.
The conference title game between the No. 11 Utes and No. 4 Trojans took place at Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, on Friday, December 2.
Rising passed Smith for No. 7 on Utah’s career passing list during the Utes’ first offensive drive against the Trojans.

Utah’s drive ended in a field goal to cut USC’s lead to 7-3.

After the field goal drive, Rising was 4/5 passing for 44 yards.
Rising entered the game having thrown for 5,167 yards, 42 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions with a completion percentage of 64.9 percent during his Utah career.

Prior to the title game, Rising had thrown for 2,629 yards, 22 touchdowns, and seven interceptions this season.
The Pac-12 Championship Game is televised on FOX.

Utah enters the matchup looking to defend its Pac-12 crown against USC, who will almost assuredly secure a spot among the four teams to compete in the College Football Playoff. It’s an intriguing contest between a pair of former Pac-12 South teams, especially after the Utes handed the Trojans their only loss of the season in October. That game took place at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
