WCC Tournament Bracket, Schedule Released For 2022 Season

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The WCC Tournament is set for the 2022 field at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Brackets and tip-times were announced on Sunday by the league.

Ten WCC teams look towards pursuing a chance at clinching the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Unlike last season amid the COVID-19 pandemic, fans will be allowed to attend. This will be the first time since 2020 that fans will be in attendance for the WCC Tournament. According to The Orleans Arena’s Health & Safety Protocols, unvaccinated attendees are “strongly recommended” to wear a mask. Fully vaccinated guests are not required to wear masks.

Ken Pomeroy Adjusted Winning Percentage Seeding

After the conclusion of the regular season games, the West Coast Conference released its Ken Pomeroy conference adjusted winning percentage to seed the 10-team field. The reason for this was due to the uneven number of league games played. Many teams within the conference had interruptions due to COVID-19 at the beginning of the league season in January.

The only change was LMU and Pacific flipped spots. Pacific finished No. 8 with the standard winning percentages, LMU was No. 9. After the KenPom adjusted percentage was released, the Lions moved up to No. 8, with the Tigers going to No. 9.

The usual suspect is the No. 1 seed, Gonzaga. Despite falling to Saint Mary’s in the regular-season finale, Gonzaga claimed its sixth consecutive outright regular-season WCC Championship. The Zags will debut in Las Vegas in the Semifinals round on Monday, March 7, along with No. 2 Saint Mary’s.

Gonzaga is looking to play in its 25th consecutive WCC Tournament Championship Game. The last time Gonzaga missed the WCC Tournament title game was in 1997.

The No. 3 seed is Santa Clara, who pulled off some surprising upsets on their home floor, defeating BYU and Saint Mary’s in the regular season. At No. 4 is San Francisco, which is squarely on the NCAA Tournament bubble. Same for No. 5-seed BYU.

The Dons and Cougars split the regular-season series against one another, each winning a game on the road. However, they can play in the Quarterfinals if BYU gets by their second-round opponent on Friday, March 4.

The opening two rounds of the WCC Tournament will air on the WCC Network. Then, beginning with the Quarterfinals, games will be carried on ESPN Networks, with the Championship game on Tuesday, March 8 being carried nationally on ESPN.
