Utah, BYU Move Up In Latest AP Poll Release

SALT LAKE CITY- Slow and steady wins the race and that is exactly what Utah and BYU are doing with their positioning in the AP Top 25 Poll. Both the Utes and Cougars moved up in the latest addition of the poll after strong performances in week five of the college football season.
#11 Utah Utes
Utah moved up one spot from last week to #11 in the AP Top 25 Poll after beating up on the Oregon State Beavers, 42-16. The Utes are slowly climbing back to the top of the poll after a stumble week one against Florida to open the season. Before coming up short in Gainesville, Utah was considered one of the top teams in the country at #7. They have continually made improvements since that time and are showing that they maybe still deserve that consideration as others have stumbled as well.

Next week will be a big test for Utah going to #18 UCLA. If they can beat the Bruins on their home turf, it will set up a monstrous game in Salt Lake City against #6 USC the following week.
#16 BYU
The Cougars had the most movement this week after taking care of business against in-state foe Utah State for the Battle of the Wagon Wheel. While, BYU struggled a little initially to get things going, they eventually put a struggling Aggies team in their place, 38-26, at home in LaVell Edwards Stadium.

BYU will also face a very big test in week six of the 2022 college football season. They will be heading to Las Vegas for a neutral-site game against fellow Independent Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish have struggled this season more than anyone anticipated and have fallen out of the Top 25. However, they still have talent, and will be another great barometer for where the Cougars sit at the halfway point of the season.
