Utah Receiver Money Parks Out For Remainder Of Season

Oct 29, 2024, 5:25 PM | Updated: Oct 30, 2024, 2:33 pm

SALT LAKE CITY – Some unfortunate news, Utah wide receiver Money Parks is out for the remainder of the season, according to head coach Kyle Whittingham.

Whittingham announced the news during Tuesday’s media availability.

“Money is done for the season, it’s a season-ending injury,” Kyle Whittingham shared. “Feel bad for Money, he’s been with us for a lot of years, and done a lot of good things.”

Money Parks Done For Year

During Saturday’s game against Houston, Parks left after taking a big hit on the sideline. He was in noticeable agony and eventually left for the locker room shortly afterward. He was ruled out for the game with a shoulder injury and returned to the sideline in street clothes.

This is another tough blow for the offense. Parks season ends with 21 receptions for 294 yards and three touchdowns. More devasting than losing a source of production is the loss of leadership.

Parks has always been a sort of consummate professional within the receiver room and his role in the offense. He’s been the sort that has led by example and has held a team-first mindset this season and throughout his career.

Who’s The Next Man Up?

With the loss of Parks, others need to step up in his place. Parks was capable of playing every role at receiver and that won’t be replaced easily by any one individual.

Utah will primarily rely on players like Mycah Pittman and Munir McClain to step up in his absence. Daidren Zipperer, who has played sparingly this season, will likely have an opportunity to play a bigger role as well, as the two share similar athletic qualities.

There is some additional flexibility with the tight end position. Brant Kuithe is capable of playing some of the same roles Parks played. That could lead to an increase in other tight end personnel, such as Landen King.
