Today’s Look At The NBA Standings

With only a few days left before the February 6 deadline, the Jazz sit 15th in the West and 29th overall with a record of 11-36.

They won their last game against the Orlando Magic, but before that, they had lost eight in a row and 16 of their last 19.

Still, the worst team in the association is the 7-41 Washington Wizards. In recent weeks, the race for the bottom three in the NBA went from six teams in contention to now just four.

What’s Next For The Jazz, Other Lottery Hopefuls

There are only four teams in the association with less than 15 wins as we approach the 50th game of the season. Those teams are Washington, Utah, New Orleans, and Charlotte.

The Wizards have the second-easiest remaining schedule, and the Hornets have the ninth-easiest. It’s the opposite story for the West’s bottomfeeders as both the Jazz and -Pelicans have top-four hardest remaining schedules.

Even with one of the lightest remaining schedules, Washington has basically locked down the worst record. With Utah having just one less win than New Orleans and Charlotte, it’s anybody’s best guess for which three teams will secure the best odds in the lottery.

With that said, it’s still worth taking a look at the upcoming slate for each team.

In the next week, the Wizards will face the Hornets and Nets on the road before returning home to host the Cavaliers and Hawks. The Pelicans will play back-to-back road games in Denver before heading West to Sacramento. The Hornets get to enjoy three games at home against Washington, Milwaukee, and San Antonio before hitting the road to see Detroit.

For Utah, they will host the Pacers and Warriors before going to Phoenix and Los Angeles to play the Suns and Clippers.

Even though there is no way to accurately predict the standings come April, it is absolutely safe to say that Utah is in a good spot.

They will likely sell more at the trade deadline and find themselves in a better spot regarding lottery odds in a few weeks.
