Former Utah WR Dorian Singer Wanted Another Year, Now Working For NFL Opportunity

SALT LAKE CITY—Utah wide receiver Dorian Singer has taken a bit of an unconventional path to the 2025 NFL Draft.
Highlighted by the fact that just hours before his Pro Day, Singer was informed by the NCAA that his request for an additional year of eligibility had been denied.
That closed the door on a return to Utah and put Singer in a tricky situation in the heat of the NFL Draft process.
However, Singer took it all in stride, and as he reflects on his path, he’s grateful and hoping for an opportunity to prove himself at the next level.

Dorian Singer wanted another year at Utah
Despite struggles, Singer was a real bright spot for the Utes last season. After the addition of quarterback Devon Dampier, Singer was hoping to run it back one more season with the Utes.
“I definitely was still hoping it would work out, I would’ve loved to play with Devon, but God had a different plan for me,” Dorian Singer said of his near-return.
Not only would Singer have enjoyed an opportunity to play with his brother, Devon Dampier, but his experience with Utah this past season, despite all the struggles, was still a positive one.
“I wish I had another shot to play for Utah, it was an amazing experience for me and my family, but I’ll definitely be back at Utah to support Dev and the Utes,” he said.
Despite uncertainty, Singer made the most of his NFL Draft process
Now preparing for the next chapter, Singer enters the draft as a proven playmaker—a former 1,000-yard receiver at Arizona who capped off his collegiate career with a strong 2024 season at Utah.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to chase this dream and for people like Utah fans who believe in me,” Singer shared. “It’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid. I’ve put everything into preparing for this opportunity.”
Singer spent time training in the offseason, but he was never able to fully commit to combine training due to his pending waiver. That made things a bit complicated, but again, Singer made the most of it.
“I continued training throughout the pre-draft process in case the NCAA denied my waiver, which ultimately happened,” he said. “I was preparing for both outcomes, since I didn’t know when a final decision would be made.”

Singer was initially listed on the Big 12 Pro Day attendees, but did not find out officially until the day of the event.
“I didn’t find out my waiver was denied until the morning of my Pro Day, but I still feel satisfied with what I put forth with my route running and drills,” he said.
Singer did everything but run the 40-yard dash. He has since run it with an electrical timer and clocked a 4.53-second time.

Singer is hoping for an NFL opportunity
After a productive college career and draft process, Singer enters the draft off most NFL radars. Yet, he’s the sort of prospect that will continue to work for and make the most of his opportunities.
“This hasn’t been easy, but I’ve never stopped believing,” he said. “I know what I bring to the table: the work ethic, passion, and love for the game.”
With the draft fast approaching, Singer is optimistic about what lies ahead. He knows what he’s capable of, and he’s had positive interactions with NFL personnel along the way.
“I’ve connected with several NFL teams throughout this process, and I’m thankful for every team’s interest in me,” he shared. “We’re having daily conversations, and I’m thankful for their willingness to contact me, and we’ll see where I end up!”
