BYU-Stanford Football Fan Guide: Game Info, Storylines, Etc.

PROVO, Utah – BYU football plays its second home game in as many weeks when it welcomes the Stanford Cardinal for a week two battle at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

BYU faces Stanford for the first time since 2022 in Palo Alto, California.

The Cardinal traveled to the Hawai’ian Islands in week zero before falling 23-20 against the Rainbow Warriors of the Mountain West.

Interim head coach Frank Reich leads Stanford. Reich formerly coached in the NFL.

BYU concluded the 2022 season with a 35-26 win over Stanford on ‘The Farm’. The Cougars are 7-10 all-time against ACC teams.

KSL meteorologist Matt Johnson predicts cloudy and high-70s for kickoff in Provo. Cougar fans can expect temperatures to drop into the low 70s by the fourth quarter.

Tailgating lots open at 8 a.m. M.T. The west ticket booth will open at 3:15 p.m. MT.

Cougar White Out in Provo

BYU is asking fans to wear white for Saturday night’s game. The Cougars are wearing an all-white helmet, royal blue jersey, and white pants against the Cardinal.

Where does BYU’s Cougar Canyon begin?

Cougar Canyon will occur on the stadium’s West side from 4:45 p.m. MT on game day. Food trucks and activities for all ages will be available. BYUtv’s pregame show, Sports Nation GameDay, and BYU Radio’s Cougar Pregame Live will also be broadcast live from Cougar Canyon.

The Cougar Walk will take place from the north end of Cougar Canyon through the stadium’s southwest corner, starting at 4:45 p.m. MT.  The Cougar Walk closes at 5:30 p.m. MT.

Stadium gates will open shortly after the Cougar Walk.

What channel is BYU football on?

The BYU football game against Stanford will be broadcast on ESPN. Mark Jones, Roddy Jones, and Quint Kessenich will be on the call.
