Utah State Basketball To Sell Custom Shoes, Proceeds Going To Young Cancer Survivor

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah State basketball announced on Sunday that the program would be selling custom shoes worn by the coaching staff, with all proceeds going to 12-year-old cancer survivor Xander Gunnell.
The shoes, hand-painted by USU students, were worn during the Coaches vs Cancer game on Wednesday, January 28.
We are excited to announce that the shoes worn by our coaches and staff are available for purchase through our auction site!
All proceeds will benefit Xander Gunnell and his family to help support him and cover medical bills.

A social media post from the team talked more about the shoes and Gunnell.
During our Coaches vs Cancer game on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Xander Gunnell served as the honorary starter and left a lasting impact on everyone involved. Xander is a 12-year old cancer survivor with a big heart, a bright smile, and an incredible love for life. He designed special camo shoes, which were hand painted by students from the USU Caine School of the Arts and gifted to our coaches and support staff. Please consider showing your support for Xander by bidding on these one of a kind shoe and helping make a meaningful difference for his family.
The post also said all proceeds will “benefit Xander Gunnell and his family to help support him and cover medical bills.”
