Team USA Has Difficult Day In Women’s Ski Jumping

PREDAZZO, Italy — Team USA couldn’t get out of its own way in the normal hill women’s ski jumping event, with all three Utahns in the field placing 21st or lower.
Norway’s Anna Odine Stroem secured gold with a final score of 267.3 points. Slovenia’s Nika Prevc earned silver (266.2), and Nozomi Maruyama of Japan (261.8) took home bronze.

Utah’s Annika Belshaw and Paige Jones struggle
University of Utah student Annika Belshaw was 16th after her first round jump earned 118.5 points. She followed it up with a poor 109.6 in the final round, finishing the day in 21st place.
She was the highest-placing American.

The Steamboat Springs, Colorado, native was two spots in front of her U.S. and Utah Utes teammate Paige Jones.
Hailing from Park City, Utah, neither of Jones’ jumps cracked the top-20. She finished the competition 23rd with 222.6 points.
Park City’s Josie Johnson finishes 27th in women’s ski jump
Josie Johnson, a 17-year-old from Park City, Utah, turned in two jumps under 110 points, finishing with 216.4 points for the day.

Johnson previously won a silver medal in the 2024 Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, South Korea.
