SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen will miss at least the next two weeks with a hip injury.
ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported the news on Thursday, a day after Markkanen was injured in practice.
“Utah’s Lauri Markkanen will be re-evaluated in two weeks after an MRI on Thursday showed symptomatic hip impingement with associated inflammation and bone bruise, sources tell ESPN,” Charania reported. “Markkanen also twisted an ankle in practice Wednesday but those tests returned clean.”

Lauri Markkanen Out Two Weeks After Hip Injury
Before the Jazz’s matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans, coach Will Hardy explained how Markkanen’s injury occurred.
“It was an awkward landing going toward the basket,” Jazz coach Will Hardy said. “[He] tweaked his ankle, sort of jammed his hip, so he was pulled from practice, and he’s getting looked at now.”
After the injury, reports emerged that the NBA would send its own doctor to Utah to look at the results. That report was later rescinded, and no doctor traveled to see the All-Star forward.
