Utah State secures several Mountain West postseason awards

LOGAN, Utah – A Utah State Aggie is the Mountain West Player of the Year for the third time after Mason Falslev earned the honor for the 2025-26 season.
USU players were all over the board when the Mountain West announced its postseason accolades on Tuesday, March 10.

Four USU players and head coach Jerrod Calhoun were recognized after the team went 15-5 to win the outright regular-season title.
Utah State begins its MW tournament run as the No. 1 seed in a 1 p.m. MT game on Thursday, March 12. The Aggies will play the winner of 8-seed UNLV and 9-seed Wyoming.
Mason Falslev | Junior | Guard
Player of the Year | All-Defense | All-Mountain West First Team
Hailing from nearby Benson, Utah, Mason Falslev was the tip of the spear all season, leading the Aggies on both ends of the court.
The junior averaged 15.9 points (8th in MW), 5.7 rebounds (7th in MW), 2.9 assists, and 1.9 steals (2nd in MW) in the regular season.

His 51.9 field goal percentage was second in the league.
Falslev becomes the third Aggie to be named Mountain West Player of the Year. Great Osobor won the award in 2024, and Sam Merrill was the 2019 POTY.
MJ Collins Jr. | Senior | Guard
All-MW Second Team
MJ Collins Jr. had far and away the best season of his college career, exploding for a career-high 17.6 points (4th in MW) per game.
The former Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech guard gave the Aggies the athleticism and scoring ability they desperately needed.

Collins Jr. was named MW Player of the Week and earned the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week in November after scoring a career-best 40 points in a win over Davidson.
Karson Templin | Junior | Forward
Sixth Man of the Year
In his third season with the Aggies, Karson Templin has become a Hurd favorite while evolving into a dangerous low-post scorer with a developing perimeter touch.
Templin’s relentless work ethic and tireless attitude on the court average 9.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while totaling 27 steals and 28 blocks.

USU has been a haven for productive bench players recently, with Templin becoming the fourth Aggie to win the award since 2021.
Alphonso Anderson was the MW Sixth Man of the Year in 2021, followed by Dan Akin (2023) and Josh Uduje (2024).
Jerrod Calhoun
Steve Fisher Coach of the Year
Jerrod Calhoun has been everything the rabid Utah State basketball fanbase could have hoped for and more in his two seasons with the Aggies.
USU is 25-6 this season and poised for another berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The Aggies’ outright MW regular-season championship was just the second outright title and third overall since joining the Mountain West in 2013.
Calhoun joins Danny Sprinkle (2024) and Craig Smith as Utah State coaches to be named MW Coach of the Year.
