Playoffs Second Round: 4A Utah High School Football Recap

SALT LAKE CITY — The No. 11 Skyline Eagles upset the No. 6 Pine View Panthers on the road in the second round of the 4A high school playoffs on Friday.
The Eagles struck first with a 70-yard touchdown run from Jonah Mailei. Following an 80-yard bomb from quarterback Xavier Cocci to Alex Brown, Skyline took a 14-7 lead into halftime.
Pine View tied the game in the third, but it would be the Cocci-Brown connection again to lift the Eagles to a 21-14 win.
Skyline will face No. 14 Green Canyon on Friday, November 7, in the quarterfinals.
Second Round Recap For 4A Utah High School Football Playoffs
No. 16 East Leopards 14 @ No. 1 Ridgeline Riverhawks 73
The Ridgeline Riverhawks scored 20 or more points in each of the first three quarters of their second-round blowout over the East Leopards on Friday. Quarterback Nate Dahle finished with an impressive six passing touchdowns.
Three Riverhawks players had at least two touchdowns in the win. Noah Fiefia had three, and both Graham Livingston and Owen Leishman had two.
Ridgeline will face No. 8 Park City on Friday, November 7, in the quarterfinals.

No. 9 Sky View Bobcats 13 @ No. 8 Park City Miners 23
The difference was basically special teams, as the Park City Miners defeated the Sky View Bobcats on Friday. Park City and Sky View each had two touchdowns, but the Miners had exactly ten more points from field goals and extra point attempts.
Both quarterbacks were responsible for each trip to the end zone. Park City’s Josh Hofer had two passing TDs, and Sky View’s Tucker Stokes had one passing and one rushing score.
Park City will face No. 1 Ridgeline on Friday, November 7, in the quarterfinals.
No. 13 Highland Rams 7 @ No. 4 Hurricane Tigers 43
The Hurricane Tigers held the Highland Rams scoreless through the first three quarters as they cruised to a big win in the second round of the playoffs. Five of Hurricane’s six TDs came on the ground.
Also of note, five of the touchdowns came from 25 yards or further, with three coming from at least 40 yards out.
Hurricane will face No. 5 Provo on Friday, November 7, in the quarterfinals.
No. 12 Salem Hills Skyhawks 6 @ No. 5 Provo Bulldogs 45
The Provo Bulldogs started and ended strong, dropping 21 points in the first and fourth quarters of their win over the Salem Hills Skyhawks on Friday. Their only score outside of those quarters was a field goal in the second.
Both Teave Brown and Malik Filimoeatu had two rushing TDs for the Bulldogs.
Provo will face No. 4 Hurricane on Friday, November 7, in the quarterfinals.
No. 15 Timpanogos Timberwolves 27 @ No. 2 Crimson Cliffs Mustangs 48
The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs’ offense was too much to handle for the Timpanogos Timberwolves in round two. Three different Mustang players had two or more touchdowns in the win.
The Mustangs opened the game with 20 points, added seven more in each of the following quarters, and then closed up shop with 14 in the fourth.
Crimson Cliffs will face No. 7 Stansbury on Friday, November 7, in the quarterfinals.
No. 10 Mountain Crest Mustangs 42 @ No. 7 Stansbury Stallions 49
The Stansbury Stallions held off a late Mountain Crest Mustangs run to come out on top in the second round of the 4A playoffs. Stansbury opened the game with 14 unanswered points in the first quarter, but Mountain Crest slowly clawed back over the next three.
Stallios quarterback Brighton Reutzel threw for six touchdowns. Five different receivers saw trips to the end zone.
Stansbury will face No. 2 Crimson Cliffs on Friday, November 7, in the quarterfinals.
No. 14 Green Canyon Wolves 23 @ No. 3 Snow Canyon Warriors 20
The Green Canyon Wolves went up early and held strong down the stretch to defeat the Snow Canyon Warriors on Friday. Green Canyon’s Ethan Munk and Hayden Schramm connected for two of the team’s touchdowns.
Snow Canyon QB Parker Olson dropped the lead to three with a late rushing TD, but the effort was too little, too late.
Green Canyon will face No. 11 Skyline on Friday, November 7, in the quarterfinals.
