SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Weber State and current Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard wore a special “Pride” colorway of his signature Adidas Dame 6 shoes during a game against the Boston Celtics.

Lillard and the Blazers fell 128-124 to the Celtics on Sunday, August 2, during the NBA’s restart at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida.

The NBA All-Star dropped 30 points and 16 assists in the loss.

During the contest, Lillard wore a rainbow “Pride” edition of his latest Adidas kicks.

The former Weber State star is one of many NBA players using the league’s restart as a platform for social justice. The “Pride” colorway is in support of the LGBTQ+ community.

In 2017, the Blazers guard said he was the victim of anti-gay slurs during a game in Minnesota.

Lillard also chose to put the social justice message “How Many More” on the back of his jersey during the league’s restart.

During the NBA’s hiatus, Lillard has been outspoken on social injustice.

In June, he marched alongside thousands of protesters in Portland to fight against racism and police brutality following the death of George Floyd.

On May 25, Floyd, a man who was Black, died after a police officer who was white kneeled on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes.

He also created multiple rap tracks about racism and police brutality until his music personality, Dame D.O.L.L.A.

About Damian Lillard

The former Weber State guard has played his entire NBA career with Portland.

After starring for the Wildcats in Ogden from 2009-12, Lillard was selected by the Blazers with the sixth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. He won the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award after his debut season.

Since he joined the NBA, the guard has been named an All-Star five times. He was a member of the All-NBA First Team in 2018.
