Salt Lake Bees Announce 2025 Coaching Staff

SALT LAKE CITY – Manager Keith Johnson is returning for his tenth season at the helm of the Salt Lake Bees as the 2025 season fast approaches. With spring training going full bore in Arizona and Florida, Johnson heads into his 18th season with the Angels franchise as a player and coach.
The Bees announced their 2025 coaching staff on Friday, February 14, in conjunction with their parent club, the Los Angeles Angels.
Johnson will be joined by bench coach Jack Santora, pitching coach Shane Loux, assistant pitching coach Andy Hawkins, and hitting coach Alonzo Powell. Athletic trainer Jonathan Fierro and strength and conditioning coach Jimmy Sanchez will assist the staff.

Johnson is in the midst of his third stint as Bees manager. He enters the season with 605 wins after playing for the Salt Lake Stingers in 2002 and 2003.
Santora enters his third year on the Bees bench but has been in the Angels organization since 2017. He served as the Orem Owlz manager in 2019.

Loux returns to SLC for his second season in black and yellow. The former 17-year pro is the only Bees pitcher to earn Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Year honors, accomplishing the feat in 2008. Hawkins also enters his second season working with the pitching staff in Salt Lake. He is a ten-year MLB veteran.
A hitting coach previously with the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, Houston Astros, and San Francisco Giants, Powell returns for his second season on Johnson’s staff.
Fierro enters his fifth season with Salt Lake after spending nine years in the Chicago Cubs organization. He was named the PCL Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2023. Sanchez enters his third season with the Bees. He was named PCL Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year in 2024.

The Bees welcome Video Assistant Zackary Turner and Game Planning Strategist Michael Snow to the team. The Angels have added Koki Ikeda as an additional athletic trainer.

The inaugural game in The Ballpark at America First Square is on Tuesday, April 8, against the Reno Aces. 2025 will be the Bee’s 25th season as the Angels Triple-A affiliate.

The Bees will play a 150-game schedule with 75 games at Daybreak Field. Holiday games include Memorial Day Weekend, Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Pioneer Day.

Salt Lake opens the season with a nine-game road trip. The Bees take on the El Paso Chihuahuas (San Diego Padres) on Friday, March 28. Following a three-game series with the Chihuahuas, the Bees head to New Mexico for a six-game set with the Albuquerque Isotopes (Colorado Rockies) from April 1-April 6.
