Bees Roster Filled With Experience, Promise On Opening Day

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake Bees announced their 2022 Opening Day roster ahead of the season opener on April 5 at the Tacoma Rainiers.
In conjunction with their parent affiliate Los Angeles Angels, the Bees announced their roster on Tuesday, April 5.

Catcher Matt Thaiss returns for his fourth season in Salt Lake. Thaiss headlines a list of 12 returning players from 2021 that includes infielders Keon Wong, Luis Rengifo and No. 22 Angel prospect Brendon Davis. Davis’ 30 home runs in 2021 led all Angels minor leaguers.
Five the Angels to 30 prospects, according to MLBPipeline.com, will be with the Bees when they open their season against the Tacoma Rainiers on Tuesday, April 5.

Opening Day starter and Angels No. 11 prospect Janson Junk made four starts four the Angels as the 2021 season wound down, gaining valuable experience. Joining Junk in the rotation are No. 13 prospect Davis Daniel and No. 26 prospect Ryan Smith. The pair led the Angels Minor League system in strikeouts during the 2021 season while each spending time at Double-A Rocket City and with the Bees.
In the bullpen the Bees will have Jonathan Aro, Jake Kalish, Jose Marte, Kodi Medeiros, Elvis Peguero, Gerardo Reyes, Keith Rogalla, Andre Wantz and Zack Weiss. Rogalla is the only player on the roster with a save after locking down three games four Rocket City last year.
Nine Bees players are currently signed to the Angels 40-man roster.
The Bees, led by Lou Marson in his third season as manager, will host Opening Day at Smith’s Ballpark against the Las Vegas Aviators on Tuesday, April 12. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. (MST).
