ATLANTA — Real Salt Lake found the back of the net three times to secure the club’s first road win of the season against Atlanta United FC on Saturday.
All three scores came in the first half. Sergi Solans, Aiden Hezarkhani, and Zavier Gozo were the three scorers to elevate RSL to its first road win of the season.
Real will return home to face off against Austin FC on Saturday, March 14.
First Half
Looking for their first road win of the season, the energy and effort started early for RSL.
Less than a minute after kickoff, Gozo gave Morgan Guilavogui an excellent lead pass down the center of the pitch for the match’s first scoring chance.
His attempt would be altered and bounce off the crossbar. But neither Gozo nor Guilavogui was done there.
In the 23rd minute, Guilavogui would deliver the pass this time to Solans, who finished the job to make it 1-0.

Less than five minutes later, Real got right back to it.
Hezarkhani maneuvered through traffic at the top of the box before unleashing a right-footed banger that found the top left corner.

15 minutes passed as back-and-forth action was dictated by each club’s defense.
In the 38th minute, Atlanta’s Aleksey Miranchuk dropped the Real Salt Lake lead to one with United’s first score.
But not for long.
Two minutes later, barrelling down from the right wing, Gozo shook the closest defender before painting the post on the left side to give RSL its two-goal advantage right back.

The 3-1 scoreline would ultimately hold through 11 minutes of regulation and stoppage time before the break.
Second Half
Needing only to hold strong to escape with three points, Real Salt Lake had a near-perfect start to the second half.
Atlanta’s first shot attempt after the break didn’t come until the 68th minute.
Although the first 25 minutes of the half played out in Real’s favor, the final stretch wasn’t without adversity. In the 73rd, Miranchuk scored his second goal to drop the lead to one once again.

The score reenergized the home side. Four more attempts were taken before the 90th minute came around. Real was able to block or save three of the four.
Atlanta got two more looks in stoppage time, but both weren’t on target.
The final whistle was blown, giving Real Salt Lake its second straight win.
