Bogdanovic Signing Means Derrick Favors Won’t Return To Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that the Utah Jazz will sign forward Bojan Bogdanovic to a four-year deal. This likely means that Derrick Favors won’t return to the Jazz this upcoming season.

Utah holds Favors’ team option worth $16.9 million and had to decide by July 6 whether or not to pick up the option, the signing of Bogdanovic means that the Jazz will move on from Favors.

The contract is reportedly worth $73 million for Bogdanovic.

Derrick Favors and his agent are currently speaking back and forth with the Utah Jazz about what’s next following the deal to sign Bojan Bogdanovic.

Favors averaged 11.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, while shooting 58 percent from the field.

He was acquired in 2011 when the Jazz traded Deron Williams to the New Jersey Nets in exchange for Favors, Devin Harris.

Since that time, Favors has played 576 games in a Jazz uniform.

The Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks are interested in signing Favors.

Bogdanovic had his best season of his career during the 2018-19 campaign with the Indiana Pacers, averaging 18 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2 assists per game, all were career-highs.

He shot 49 percent from the field and 42 percent from downtown, both were career-bests as well.
