Donovan Mitchell Named Western Conference Player Of The Week

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The NBA announced that Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, January 7 through Sunday, January 13. This is Mitchell’s first career Player of the Week award.
The second-year star averaged 31.5 points, 5.8 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1 block per game while shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 48.6 percent from the three-point line. Utah had a 3-1 record during the week, beating the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls with the lone loss against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Mitchell has scored 30 points or more in seven games this season, three came during the past week, which is the longest streak of his career.
Against Milwaukee, he had 26 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist in the loss.
In the 106-93 win over Orlando, Mitchell recorded 33 points, 7 assists, four rebounds and 1 steal.
Against the Lakers, he dropped 33 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks in Utah’s 113-95 win.
In the 110-102 win over the Bulls, Mitchell had 34 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
Mitchell is the 53rd player in Jazz history to win the award and is the first since November 6, 2016 when George Hill won the award. He is averaging a sophomore-best 21.3 points, 3.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game this season.
