Jazz Head Coach Quin Snyder Wins First Coach’s Challenge

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder won his first coach’s challenge during a preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Snyder’s challenge came on a play where Jazz forward Jeff Green was called for a defensive foul against New Orleans’ Zion Williamson during the second quarter on Friday, October 11.
The play was reviewed after Snyder contested that Green had a clean blocked shot on Williamson with 8:12 left in the first half.
After review, the call was reversed and the foul was removed from Green’s stat line.

Following the review, the Jazz and Pelicans had a jump ball for the possession which Utah’s Rudy Gobert won the tip against New Orleans’ Derrick Favors.
Utah had a 48-41 lead at the time of the challenge.
Snyder’s challenge was his first-ever and came in Utah’s third preseason game of the year.
The Coach’s Challenge is a new rule that was approved by the NBA Board of Governors this past offseason.
NBA rules say that a challenged foul must have “clear and conclusive visual evidence… for the crew chief to overturn the foul.”
