SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The starting lineup for the Utah Jazz meshed together and had its best performance of the young NBA season against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Jazz’s starting five combined for 80 points against the Clips.

Quin Snyder started Mike Conley, Donovan Mitchell, Bojan Bogdanovic, Royce O’Neale, and Rudy Gobert against Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 30.

It was the fourth time in five games that Snyder used that lineup to open the game. Without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the Clippers weren’t able to combat the Jazz starters and fell 110-96 in Salt Lake City.

After struggling to shoot the ball in the first four games, Conley found his rhythm against the Clips. He scored 18 of his 29 points in the third quarter. The new Jazz point guard entered the game shooting 20% on field goals. On Wednesday night, Conley was 11-17 including 5-8 from three-point range. He also added a rebound, five assists, and 2 steals.

Mitchell was… well Donovan Mitchell. He was spectacular against L.A. The third-year guard scored 24 points on 10-17 shooting. He recorded five boards, two assists, and a couple steals. He led the Jazz’s starting unit with a +8 +/- rating. It was the fourth time in five games that Mitchell scored 24 points or more.

Bogdanovic continued to help the Jazz’s offense by spreading the floor. In 24 minutes on Wednesday night, Bogey scored 14 points on 5-11 shooting including 2-5 from downtown. He also posted four rebounds and two assists all while still recovering from an ankle sprain.

O’Neale was able to help Utah in more ways than one on Wednesday. If you just looked at the box score, you might not think much of his game against the Clippers but O’Neale was key to Utah’s victory. The Jazz forward didn’t take a shot in the game but he posted 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal vs. the Clips. He was a +5 on the court and played great defense for Coach Snyder.

Gobert wasn’t perfect from the free-throw line on Wednesday night but he was super efficient offensively and continued to anchor the Jazz on defense. The center scored 13 points on 5-7 field goals including a couple of dunks. He added 7 boards, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Gobert hit 900 career blocks in the Jazz victory.

Utah moved to a 4-1 record with the win. It’s the best start by the franchise since the 2008-09 season. The Jazz have held each opponent under 100 points this season.

The Jazz have a day off before heading on the road to face the Kings. Utah and Sacramento tip-off on November 1 at 8 p.m. (MDT).
