Lauri Markkanen To Undergo MRI On Hip, Ankle

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen will undergo an MRI on his hip and ankle, KSL Sports can confirm.
Markkanen suffered the apparent injury in practice on Wednesday.
The Salt Lake Tribune’s Kevin Reynolds was the first to report.

Lauri Markkanen Requires MRI On Hip, Ankle
Though the severity of Markkanen’s injury has not been revealed, the forward joins a long list of Jazz veterans who are sidelined late in the season.
On Monday, NBA on Prime’s Chris Haynes reported that Jusuf Nurkic would undergo season-ending nasal surgery.
On Tuesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Vince Williams Jr. would miss the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL in the team’s loss to the Houston Rockets.

Two weeks ago, the Jazz announced needed surgery to remove a tumor from his knee, which would sideline him for at least four weeks.

Walker Kessler has been sidelined for most of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery just five games into the Jazz’s 2025-26 campaign.
Markkanen is the Jazz’s leading scorer at 26.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 47 percent from the floor and 35 percent from three.
The Jazz currently own the sixth-worst record in the NBA, and sit one win ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans in the Western Conference standings.
The Jazz and Pelicans will face off twice, beginning Thursday in Salt Lake City.
