Mitchell Efficient In First Half, Jazz Starters Sit Second Half In Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Utah guard Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz with an efficient first half before sitting on the bench in the second half against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Jazz fell to the Bucks 133-99.

Mitchell led the Jazz starters in scoring with 14 points in the team’s second preseason game of the year on Wednesday, October 9.

The guard was 5-9 on field goals in 17 minutes of action. Mitchell posted four points on 80 percent shooting from the free-throw line. He also added five rebounds and two assists.

Mitchell along with the other Jazz starters, Mike Conley, Bojan Bogdanovic, Jeff Green, and Ed Davis, all sat out the second half against the Bucks.

Unfortunately for the Jazz, Mitchell’s efficient night wasn’t enough against the Eastern Conference opponent. Utah was without Rudy Gobert and Joe Ingles who missed the game due to rest. Without the two starters the Jazz were unable to find an additional anchor to Mitchell on both offense and defense.

The Jazz offense was limited in the first half against the Bucks. Conley and Bogdanovic combined for 0-14 on field goals. Utah shot below 20 percent from three-point range in the first half.

Utah allowed MVP Giannis Antetokoumpo to post 22 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block in the Bucks’ win.

Milwaukee starters Kris Middleton and Brook Lopez each scored 14 points.

Utah moved to 1-1 in the preseason with the loss.
