Mitchell Scores 4000th Career Point, 4th Fastest Jazzman To Milestone

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell scored his 4000th career point during Utah’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Mitchell became the fourth Jazzman to surpass the mark in under 200 career games.

Mitchell’s landmark bucket came during the second quarter of the Jazz’s game against the Grizzlies on Saturday, December 7.

The Utah star joined former Jazzmen Adrian Dantley, Pete Maravich, and Darrell Griffith in eclipsing 4,000 career points in their first 200 NBA games.

With his last basket, Donovan Mitchell has eclipsed 4,000 points in his 179th NBA game. He’s now one of only 4 Jazz players to total 4,000 points in under 200 career games #TakeNote

Mitchell reached the career mark in his 179th career game. He is currently in his third NBA season.

Dantley posted 4,000 points by his 135th game. Maravich reached it in his 165th contest. Griffith posted his 4,000th point in his 194th game.

Both Dantley and Maravich are in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

All three players have had their numbers retired by the Jazz organization.

Mitchell scored 14 points in the first half against the Grizzlies. He was 5-9 on field goals including 2-3 from behind the arc. He added 3 rebounds and 2 assists in 19 minutes on the court.

The Utah guard entered the Memphis game averaging 24.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game this season. He ranks 14th in the NBA in scoring.

The Jazz led the Grizzlies 69-54 at halftime.
