LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers both experienced a poor first half of their matchup in the second game of the regular season. Each team struggled to shoot the ball efficiently and both teams the ball over more than ten times.

The Jazz suffered from 13 first half turnovers which led to 15 points by the Lakers. Utah shot 36.8 on field goals in the first 24 minutes of play.

Los Angeles allowed 14 Jazz points off 10 total turnovers. LA shot 34.8 percent from the field.

Neither team shot particularly well from three-point range. The Jazz were 3-12 from downtown while the Lakers were 4-12.

The Lakers took a 43-37 lead over the Jazz at halftime on Friday, October 25.

Los Angeles was led by Anthony Davis who had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal at halftime.

The Jazz were led by Donovan Mitchell who had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. Rudy Gobert added 6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, and some excellent defense.

Mike Conley’s shooting slump continued from the season-opener to Game 2. He was 0-5 on field goals in the first half including 0-3 from downtown. He was 4-4 on free throws for 4 points.

Emmanuel Mudiay struggled in the first two quarters with a few turnovers and a flagrant foul.

Utah was down by 12 points at one point in the first half. A 13-2 Jazz run closed the gap before the Lakers went on a 7-2 run at the end of the half to take a six-point lead at the break.
