Keyonte George scored 20 points to lead the Jazz while Miles Bridges led all scorers with 26.

Game Blog: Jazz Fall To Hornets

Utah Jazz Record 60th Loss Of Season

With their loss to the Hornets, the Jazz dropped to 16-60 on the season, marking the most losses in a single season in franchise history.

The Jazz lost 59 games in the 1974-75 season, and 58 games in 79-70, but had never reached the 60-loss mark in their first 50 seasons as an organization.

With six games left to play, that number is likely to grow.

After facing the Hornets, the Jazz will close their five-game road trip with games in Houston, Indiana, and Atlanta, before returning home to face the Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder, before closing the year on the road in Minnesota.

Jazz Likely Lock Up A Bottom Two Record

With their 60th loss, the Jazz also likely locked up one of the two worst records in the NBA this season.

Charlotte moved to 19-56 with their win, and now sits 3.5 games ahead of the Jazz in the standings with seven games left on their schedule.

To catch the Hornets, the Jazz would have to close the season with a record of at least 3-3, while Charlotte would have to lose out.

The Jazz haven’t won three games within a six-game period since early November.

At 16-60, the Jazz remain percentage points below the Washington Wizards, who own the league’s second-worst record at 16-59 after their blowout loss to the Miami Heat on Monday.

So long as the Jazz finish with one of the three-worst records in the NBA, they’ll have an equal 52.1 percent chance of landing a top-four pick in May’s draft lottery.

However, by finishing with a record worse than the Hornets or Wizards, the Jazz can limit how far they fall in the draft.

The team that finishes with the worst record in the NBA can fall no further than fifth in the draft. The team that finishes with the second-worst record can fall no further than sixth, and the team that finishes with the third-worst record can fall as far as seventh.

Last season, the Detroit Pistons finished with the worst record in the NBA but slipped to the fifth pick in the draft, while the Hornets had the third-worst record and dropped to sixth.

After Monday’s results, the Jazz have the third most difficult remaining schedule in the NBA. The Hornets own the sixth most difficult, while the Wizards have the 16th most difficult.

The draft lottery will be held on May 12.
