AP Top 25: BYU Football Falls, Utah Holds Strong In Week 16 Rankings

SALT LAKE CITY — Following the conclusion of the conference title games, BYU and Utah football found out their placements in the week 16 AP Top 25 poll.

BYU football came in at No. 12, and the Utah Utes at No. 15.

BYU got blown out in the Big 12 championship in Arlington, 34-7.

However, despite the Cougars sitting at No. 11 and the Red Raiders at No. 5 last week, BYU still slid in the AP Poll.

BYU Football will see the field one more time in a bowl game later this month.

Utah football had nothing to do this last week except for watching how the conference championships played out.

The results from teams around them had little impact, and the Utes stood strong at 15th.

They will also play one last game later this month.

The Rest of The Big 12 Rankings

As has been the case for most of the 2025 season, four Big 12 schools are ranked in the AP Top 25.

Texas Tech, following their conference championship win, jumped up to No. 4. BYU and Utah follow the Red Raiders at No. 12 and No. 15. The Arizona Wildcats bring up the rear at No. 21.

Four other Big 12 programs received votes but failed to crack the official rankings. Those teams are Houston (82 votes, 26th), Arizona State (six votes, 35th), Iowa State (two votes, 42nd), and TCU (one vote, 44th).
