SALT LAKE CITY – The preseason recognitions continue to pile up for players in the state of Utah with four representatives being named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose watchlist.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award is given annually to the top offensive player in Division I football who exhibits the characteristics that define Earl Campbell. Those characteristics include integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity.

The nominees must also be born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or currently playing at a four-year Division I institution in the state of Texas.

The four players with ties to the state of Utah that were named to the watchlist include Utah tight end Brant Kuithe, BYU wide receiver Keanu Hill, Utah State quarterback Logan Bonner and Aggies running back Calvin Tyler Jr.

Bonner is from Rowlett, Texas and attended Rowlett High School. Tyler is from Beaumont, Texas and attended Silsbee High School.

Kuithe is from Katy, Texas and attended Cinco Ranch High School. Hill is from Bedford, Texas and attended Trinity High School.

Kuithe is one of 11 players from the Pac-12 to be selected to the watchlist, including UCLA WR Kam Brown (Colleyville), USC TE Malcolm Epps (Houston), Colorado RB Alex Fontenot (Richmond), USC OL Courtland Ford (Cedar Hill), Arizona State OL LaDarius Henderson (Waxahachie), Stanford WR Elijah Higgins (Austin), Oregon State RB Damien Martinez (Lewisville), Washington WR Ja’Lynn Polk (Lufkin), Cal WR J. Michael Sturdivant (Highland Village), and Washington State QB Cameron Ward (West Columbia).

Hill is one of two players from independent programs to be named to the watchlist, joining Liberty OL Cooper McCaw (Southlake). Bonner and Tyler and two of six Mountain West players listed on the watchlist, including New Mexico TE Trace Bruckler (Frisco), Boise State WR Stefan Cobbs (Fort Worth), San Diego State WR Tyrell Shavers (Lewisville), and Wyoming RB Titus Swen (Fort Worth).

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award will be narrowed to 16 semifinalists in November and five finalists will be announced in December. A panel of broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans and previous award winners will select a winner in January.
