ST. GEORGE, Utah – There is a lot of talk about the downsides of name, image and likeness (NIL) in college athletics these days. Amid all the craziness in the NIL space, BYU football players are hosting an event that can highlight the positives of NIL.

Players within the BYU football program will be hosting a camp for young athletes called “D1 Dream Camp.”

Individuals who sign up for the camp will get training by BYU players at Desert Hills High School in St. George. Athletes from 3rd to 12th grade can sign up. Some of the 20-plus BYU football players that are expected to be on the camp staff include linebackers Payton Wilgar, Keenan Pili, and quarterback Jacob Conover.

The camp was made possible by All Poly Sports, the creators of the All Poly Camp. All Poly has been a fixture on the summer camp circuit for the past two decades.

BYU football players will coach in the D1 Dream Camp

D1 Dream Camp will take place this weekend, May 13-14 and registration remains open at AllPolySports.com for anyone looking to get training with division one athletes. The cost is $150, with the price jumping up to $175 for walk-up registrations on the day of the camp.

It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity for young football players to get hands-on training from division one athletes. Without name, image and likeness it wouldn’t be possible.

When you hear about NIL collectives and transfers getting multi-million dollar deals to go to a school, it can be easy to think, is NIL a good thing for the sport? But you see camps like this one that gives back to the youth while also putting some extra change in athletes’ pockets. It’s a reminder of what many envisioned NIL would be used for when it became an open market last July.
