Cosmo Advances To Mascot Title After Comeback Win Over Wisconsin’s Bucky

PROVO, Utah – BYU’s Cosmo continued its quest towards becoming the top mascot in America on Tuesday night.
Every Cougar fan’s favorite mascot took down Wisconsin’s Bucky The Badger to send Cosmo to SiriusXM’s Best Mascot tournament. It didn’t come easy though as Cosmo needed every vote from BYU fan it could get.

Two hours before the final voting closed, Cosmo was trailing Bucky by two percent in the voting. Then the social media onslaught took place as every official BYU account made a late surge to put Cosmo on top, including sending emails to fans and alums to have them involved as well.
Like the BYU football team two years ago, Cosmo and its fans left Wisconsin speechless as Cosmo ended up winning the final vote by eight percent.

Taking down Wisconsin’s Bucky marks Cosmo’s third consecutive victory over a mascot from the Big Ten Conference and like the previous two, social media was on fire down the home stretch.

Cosmo’s Championship Opponent
But the biggest challenger standing in the way of Cosmo and a Mascot title is a very big mascot, literally. Western Kentucky’s Big Red defeated Oklahoma in the other semifinal and it sets up the showdown we all expected.

The best part about Cosmo and Big Red advancing to the championship round is that neither mascot made SiriusXM’s original field of 64. It took mobs of upset fans to get their favorite mascots in the tournament as 16-seeds in play-in matchups.
Now they are squaring off with a title that crowns them the best mascot in the land.
BYU trails Dayton in Best Fan Contest
BYU is involved in another Twitter bracket called the Best Fans in College Basketball by Fox Sports. The winning school gets to place a billboard near their rival’s campus. So if BYU wins they’ll have a billboard up near the hill in Salt Lake City.
BYU is currently in the Sweet 16 against the Dayton Flyers and they will need a massive comeback if they want to pull off the victory. The Cougars trail by 18 percent with one day remaining in the Sweet 16 voting.
