PROVO, Utah – UTSA starting quarterback Frank Harris is tied with BYU’s Zach Wilson for most rushing touchdowns this season by a QB.  The dual-threat Harris suffered a knee sprain against Middle Tennessee two weeks ago, is a game-time decision this week against No. 15 BYU.

“I don’t know if I’m playing,” Harris said to reporters on Tuesday. “It’s going to be a game-time decision. Coach (Jeff Traylor) is going to make that decision again, so it’s up to him.”

UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor said earlier this week that he would not play Harris against the undefeated Cougars if he is “limping” or is any less than 100 percent.

Last week, Frank Harris missed UTSA’s game against Conference-USA foe UAB in Birmingham. He was ruled out moments before kickoff against UAB. The Roadrunners suffered their first loss of the season without Harris at quarterback. His backup, New Mexico State transfer Josh Adkins, suffered a broken collarbone injury on the game’s first play against the Blazers.

Through the first three games of the season, Harris passed for 508 yards and three touchdowns with a 66.3 percent completion rate. The junior quarterback has also found success running the football where he has racked up 168 yards and the aforementioned five touchdowns and is 3-0 this season as the starter.

UTSA’s QB options after Frank Harris

Lowell Narcisse stepped in for the injured Adkins. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Narcisse is believed to be the starter this week if Harris isn’t able to play. Jordan Weeks is another option for the Roadrunners to play if Harris isn’t able to go.

BYU boasts the No. 1 ranked Total Defense giving up only 214.3 yards per game is preparing for any one of the QBs to step in and play.

“We look at all of those guys as great players, and they’ve all played for a reason,” said BYU safety Troy Warner. “They’ve got talent, and we respect each one of their games. We take a good look at each one of those guys, and whichever one it’ll be, we’ll be prepared for, and we look forward to the opportunity this week.”

BYU and UTSA kick off Saturday afternoon in Provo at 1:30 p.m. (Mountain Time). You can watch the game on ESPN2 and listen to the call on KSL NewsRadio (102.7 FM, 1160 AM, and the KSL NewsRadio app on iOS and Android).
