BOISE, Idaho – The BYU Cougars face the Western Michigan Broncos in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl at Albertson’s Stadium in Boise, Idaho. BYU is 6-6 as an independent while Western Michigan is 7-5 out of the MAC.

5:33pm

The clock hits zero and BYU takes the 49-18 win over Western Michigan.


5:16pm

BYU backup quarterback Tanner Mangum entered the game and helped drive BYU down the field and fullback Brayden El-Bakri ran in a one yard touchdown run. BYU’s lead is 49-18 with 4:07 left in the game.


5:06pm

Eleby runs in a one yard touchdown and the Broncos cut the lead to 42-18 after getting the two-point conversion. There is 7:37 left in the game.


4:54pm

BYU scored another touchdown on the arm of Wilson as he hit wide receiver Dax Milne from 5-yards out. The Cougars lead goes to 42-10 with 11:38 left in the game. Wilson has thrown 18 straight completions, which is one shy of the FBS record for most consecutive completed passes. He already passed the school record of 14.

4:41pm

The end of the third quarter and BYU dominated Western Michigan by outscoring the Broncos 28-0 in the third period. The Cougars hold a 35-10 lead with 15 minutes left in the game.


4:33pm

BYU needed just four offensive plays to score their fifth touchdown of the game as defensive back Dayan Ghanwoloku runs in a one-yard touchdown. It’s 28 unanswered for BYU with all four touchdowns coming in the third quarter. The Cougars lead Western Michigan 35-10 with 2:47 left in the third quarter.


4:30pm

Western Michigan’s second play of their drive, Eleby threw an interception to BYU defensive back Austin Lee, who takes the ball to the Broncos 32-yard line. The Cougars still hold a 28-10 lead with 4:06 left in the third quarter.


4:27pm

After BYU defensive back Michael Shelton recovered a fumble, the Cougars scored a touchdown just two plays later as Wilson hit wide receiver Aleva Hifo for a 70-yard touchdown. BYU’s lead is stretched out to 28-10 with 5:04 left in the third quarter.

4:21pm

On second down, BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki collected his career-best 15th tackle by sacking Eleby.


4:13pm

The Cougars separated themselves from the Broncos as running back Riley Burt ran in a 37-yard touchdown to take a 21-10 with 7:29 left in the third quarter.


4:00pm

Four plays later, Wilson connects with Collie for the second touchdown of the game from 8-yards out. BYU takes a 14-10 lead with 13:14 left in the third quarter.


3:56pm

BYU has a great start to the first half as Wilson hits tight end Neil Pau’u for 48 yards to the Western Michigan 21-yard line. WMU still holds a 10-7 lead with 14:45 left in the third quarter.


3:30pm

Western Michigan was able to get down the field on their last possession of the first half, the Broncos hit a 37-yard field goal and took their first lead of the game, 10-7 and that was the score at halftime.


3:14pm

On that drive, the Broncos faced a fourth and three at the BYU 33-yard line, Jamauri Bogan ran in a 33-yard touchdown to tie the game at seven with 3:07 left in the first half.


3:08pm

The Cougars were at midfield but they had a bad pitch on a reverse and fumbled the ball that was scooped up by Western Michigan and the Broncos would take over at the BYU 40-yard line. The Cougars still lead WMU 7-0 with 5 minutes left in the first half.


2:55pm

BYU failed to convert on fourth and one at their own 47-yard line. The Broncos take over trailing 7-0 with 10:20 left in the second quarter.


2:40pm

The end of the first quarter, BYU is up 7-0 over Western Michigan.


2:36pm

Two plays after the bad punt, BYU quarterback Zach Wilson connects with wide receiver Dylan Collie for a 26-yard touchdown. BYU takes a 7-0 lead with 2:20 left in the second quarter.

2:30pm

The Broncos punted the ball but it was basically a turnover as the punt traveled just nine yards. BYU takes over in WMU territory at their 17-yard line. The game is still scoreless with 3:01 left in the first quarter.

2:18pm

Western Michigan turned the ball over on downs and BYU will have their first possession at their own 20-yard line. The game is still scoreless with 7:24 left in the first quarter.

2:15pm

BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki collected his 100th tackle of the season on Western Michigan’s first possession.

The game is underway.
