BYU TE Laulu-Pututau Finds Endzone For First Time Since Knee Injury

PROVO, Utah – BYU senior tight end hauled in his first touchdown grab since suffering an ACL injury last season on Saturday night against Liberty.
In the fourth quarter of BYU’s game against the Flames, Cougar quarterback Baylor Romney found a streaking Laulu-Pututau wide open for a 17-yard touchdown.

It was a big moment for Laulu-Pututau who has had a host of setbacks the past two seasons. Last year, Laulu-Pututau had a touchdown catch in BYU’s upset victory over No. 6 Wisconsin. Two weeks later, the Hyrum, Utah native suffered an ACL injury against Washington that ended his 2018 season. Just one year after injuring his lisfranc that sidelined him for the entire 2017 campaign.
Laulu-Pututau worked hard to return to the gridiron this season in his final year as a Cougar. Pututau overcame academic hurdles and the long recovery process from an ACL injury that required a one-of-a-kind surgery.

In eight appearances this season, Laulu-Pututau has now recorded nine receptions for 124 yards and one touchdown.
