San Francisco Takes Care Of BYU 82-63

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The BYU Cougars couldn’t completely climb out of a first half hole as they fall to the San Francisco Dons 82-63, snapping a three game winning streak.
Yoeli Childs had a game-high 25 points on 9-of-21 shooting from the field, T. J. Haws added 12 points as they were the only two Cougars to score in double figures.
The Cougars finished the game shooting 44 percent from the field and 38 percent from downtown.
The Dons had four players reach the double digit mark in scoring, led by Frankie Ferrari 21 points, including 18 points in the second half to go with 7 assists. Jamaree Bouyea chipped in 15 points.
They shot 64 percent from the field and 47 percent from the perimeter.
A seven minute scoreless drought dug BYU a hole when San Francisco capitalized with a 16-0 run. They had a 43-29 lead at the half.
The Cougars allowed the Dons to shoot over 60 percent in the first 20 minutes and were out-rebounded 21-10.
BYU crawled back into the game in the second half on a 10-2 run to bring them within 6, 53-47 with 13 minutes left.
The Dons recovered with a 7-0 run to stretch their lead back to 13 and eventually inflated to a 16 point lead, 67-51 with 8 minutes left in the game.
BYU ran out of gas down the stretch and couldn’t trim the lead to single digits again.
The Cougars fell to 12-9 overall and 4-2 in West Coast Conference play. They will host St. Mary’s on Thursday at the Marriott Center at 9 p.m. on ESPN2 and KSL Newsradio.
St. Mary’s won the first meeting this season on January 5 with an 88-66 victory at home. The Gaels are 13-7 overall and 4-1 in WCC play and have won four in a row, including their first win against BYU.
