Ty’Son Williams Sidelined After Suffering Injury Against Washington

PROVO, Utah – BYU’s offense on the heels of piecing together a scoring drive was on the move again against the No. 22 ranked Washington Huskies late in the first half.

BYU quarterback Zach Wilson connected on a pass over the middle to running back Ty’Son Williams over the middle. The play resulted in a first down.

But that wasn’t what caught people’s attention. Williams, who has been BYU’s feature running back so far this season, was being attended to immediately by team trainers.

The trainers appeared to be looking at Williams’ left knee when he was down on the field.

Williams needed assistance from trainers as he left the field.

After that reception, Williams had totaled 45 yards of total offense on the day.

Williams did not return for the remainder of the drive and he is out for the rest of the game.

After Williams, BYU’s running back depth chart features sophomore Lopini Katoa, graduate transfer Emmanuel Esukpa, and redshirt freshman Sione Finau.

Earlier this week, redshirt freshman Tyler Allgeier was moved from running back to linebacker due to the injuries suffered at linebacker last week in the win against USC.

Update: With eight minutes left in the third quarter, Williams walked out of the locker room unassisted by trainers and was in street clothes.

BYU head coach Kalani Sitake addressed Williams’ injury after the 45-19 loss.

We will continue to update this story when we have more details.
