SALT LAKE CITY – With their backs against the wall, Cal Poly threw an interception inside their own five, setting up an easy goalline score for Utah football.

Johnathan Hall pulled down the interception, and NaQuari Rogers finished it off on the other end.

Hall, a junior linebacker out of Texas, came into Utah as a safety before eventually moving to linebacker and thriving. The interception was his first of the season and second in his career.

It was also the second of the game for the Utes, as Jackson Bennee picked off Cal Poly and returned it for six earlier in the game.

Set up on the one-yard line, Rogers took it straight up the gut for his second touchdown in two games. Ironically, his touchdown in week one also came on the possession after an interception.

On the following drive, Utah quickly moved down the field and found itself on the goal line once again. Facing fourth down, Rogers’ number was called again and punched it in for his second of the game and third in two weeks.

Rogers is one of a few players to transfer to Utah this last offseason from New Mexico, alongside offensive coordinator Jason Beck.

After his back-to-back scores to close the half, the Utes led 35-6.

Utes Open 2025 Home Schedule Against Cal Poly

No. 25 Utah football hosts the Cal Poly Mustangs for their 2025 home-opener at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday.

After a statement week one victory over the UCLA Bruins, the Utes look to keep the ball rolling at home against an FCS opponent. Cal Poly also won its first game, defeating San Diego 41-17 on the road.

Since joining the Pac-12 back in 2011, Utah has played teams from the Big Sky a total of seven times. They are 7-0 in those games with an average margin of victory of over 33 points.
