Utah football’s ‘whiteout’ game against Kansas gets a kickoff time

SALT LAKE CITY — The darkness awaits.

No. 13 Utah football enters its bye week but learned its game time for the following Saturday when the team returns to the field at Rice-Eccles Stadium against Kansas.

The Utes will welcome in the Jayhawks to Salt Lake City with an 8:15 p.m. MT kickoff on ESPN, which is the second such instance for Utah this season.

Utah is 4-0 on the season, and head coach Morgan Scalley has started off his tenure with a 5-0 record dating back to Utah’s Las Vegas Bowl win over Nebraska. Scalley became the first Utah coach since Jim Fassel in 1985 to start his tenure with a 5-0 win streak.

Kansas (1-2) enters next week’s game following a home game against Middle Tennessee. And though the setting will be at night, Utah announced the game will be a “whiteout” game.

All season Utah has worn red uniforms, so next Saturday’s game will be a departure from that trend.
