Wayshawn Parker Gives Utah Football Life With Late Rushing Touchdown

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah football offense struggled to get any momentum through the first three quarters.

Finally, in the fourth, running back Wayshawn Parker breathed life into the team with a red zone rushing score to make it 13-10.

The touchdown was Parker’s third of the season.

With 10 minutes left in the final quarter, Parker had six carries for 22 yards and a TD. He was the Utes’ second-leading rusher behind quarterback Devon Dampier, who had 37 yards.

Across Utah’s first 11 drives of the game, six ended in punts and four ended in turnovers. The 12th series saw Dampier complete three of four passes, and a few rushes from Parker had them efficiently moving down the field for what felt like the first time in the game.

Utah Utes Open Conference Play Against Texas Tech At Home

The No. 16 Utah football team opens conference play at home as it hosts the No. 17 Texas Tech Red Raiders today.

Both the Utes and Red Raiders are 3-0 to start the season, but neither squad has faced any daunting competition. The only Power Four school across all six games was UCLA for Utah in week one.

The 2025 week four matchup marks the first time Utah and Texas Tech will face off as conference foes.
