Utah State Expected To Open 2020 Season Against BYU

LOGAN, Utah – The battle for the Old Wagon Wheel between Utah State and BYU is tentatively scheduled to open the Aggies 2020 season.
Utah State announced on Thursday that they are pushing back fall camp to Monday, August 24th after the Mountain West Conference announced plans to play a 10-game schedule that features two non-conference games.
One of those non-conference games for the Aggies will be BYU.

In a press release issued to the media, “Utah State will tentatively begin its 2020 season at BYU on Friday, Oct. 2, and begin Mountain West play the following weekend with its current schedule. USU will work with Southern Utah to try and find a new date for its game that was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12.”
The October 2nd tilt for the Wagon Wheel is scheduled to be played in Provo.

For BYU the Aggies are the third team that is committed to playing the Cougars this season. BYU has been one of the hardest-hit teams by Conference-only scheduling decisions from programs in the Power 5 conferences. But now the pieces are starting to come together for BYU’s schedule.
Utah State, San Diego State, and Navy are going to play BYU in 2020.
The 2020 meeting between BYU and Utah State will be the 90th meeting pitting the two in-state rivals against one another on the gridiron. Last season, BYU upset Utah State by a score of 42-14 in the Cache Valley.
One of the intriguing wrinkles to this year’s rivalry game between BYU and Utah State is Aggies running back Devonta’e Henry-Cole. Henry-Cole, a former Utah running back, was signed to play at BYU this fall but after participating in player ran practices with the Cougars this past spring and summer opted to head up north to team with former Ute QB Jason Shelley in Logan.
