SALT LAKE CITY- It’s no secret Utah quarterback Cam Rising is good at football. In fact, Rising showed so much promise after taking over in the middle of game three for Charlie Brewer in 2021 for the Utes that the Manning Passing Academy took notice and invited him to be a quarterback coach.

About The Manning Passing Academy
Founded by Archie Manning, the Manning Passing Academy has been a staple in player development for 25 years. The camp helps develop some of the best of the best high school quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends in the county under the tutelage of football’s first family and some of the best college players in the game. The camp will run from June 23-26 at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

What Rising Brings
In 2021 Rising seemingly helped raise the Utes from the dead after a disappointing 1-2 start to what ultimately ended up being a historic season for the program. Rising was put into action against San Diego State about halfway through the game and gave Utah a chance to win. The Utes ultimately came up short in that game in triple overtime, but it was hard not to notice the significant change in effort from top to bottom when he was in.

From the SDSU game on Rising and the Utes went 8-1 in the regular season with dominating wins against USC, UCLA, Stanford and Oregon. Rising’s leadership on and off the field was a key factor in Utah earning their first ever Pac-12 Championship and subsequent Rose Bowl appearance. Rising and Utah’s performance where particularly impressive due to the devastating nature of that year losing two teammates in Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe in the span of nine months.
Utah’s QB1 would end the year with 204 completions off of 320 attempts for a completion percentage of 63.8%, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions. Rising’s final yardage for 2021 was 2,493 while averaging about 7.8 yards per attempt. Last but not least, Rising logged a QBR of 84.2 making it no wonder the Mannings wanted him as part of their camp.
