SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah football team is playing extremely well with a three-game winning streak and possibly four as they are favored to go on the road this weekend at Oregon State.

One reason is quarterback Cam Rising who is playing quite well, but another reason is how the team is honoring their fallen teammates Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe.

The Utes are playing for those two and want to have a special season. At the moment, they are the front runners to win the Pac-12 South as the only undefeated team in the entire conference in league play and could go to their third Pac-12 title game in four years.

Devin Kaufusi joins Unrivaled each week and he gave us his emotional thoughts about the dedication to Lowe and Jordan before the fourth quarter.

“They played the tribute and at that point, life is bigger than football and it is the brotherhood of football,” Kaufusi said. “The whole team understands it is us and we need to lean on each other. Not just lean on each other but support and embrace each other and we were able to show that in the fourth quarter.

“It is just so special. Having the fans there and all of us having those emotions again really just having the emotion that this is a family and brotherhood and life is a lot bigger than football.”

That was a clear boost for the Utes during the third and fourth quarters, the team honored the two with a video tribute and also held 22 seconds of silence from the stadium. That had to have brought chills to the players and everyone in the stadium to start the fourth quarter.

Getting emotional and hyped up definitely helped the players jacked up to play well to finish off that win over the Sun Devils and cap that run of 28 unanswered points.

The team has clearly turned a corner and has played better for a variety of reasons which include playing for Lowe and Jordan. Time will tell how this Ute team finishes off the season and plays specifically on the road this week after an emotional few weeks of finally defeating USC in Los Angeles, going to a funeral, and then playing the tributes to them this past weekend.

Utah improved their record to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in Pac-12 play. They will go on the road this Saturday, October 23 to face Oregon State. The game will kickoff at 5:30 p.m. MT and air on the Pac-12 Network.
