Kyle Whittingham, Dorian Singer, ‘would like nothing more than a return with us’

SALT LAKE CITY— Utah has gone through a significant makeover on the offensive side of the ball this past month.
With a new offensive coordinator, completely revamped quarterback and running back rooms, and significant additions at receiver, the Utah offense is almost unrecognizable compared to what it looked like six months ago.
Jason Beck will be tasked with improving the offensive output for Utah in 2025. Though many changes have been made, one familiar face could potentially significantly boost Utah’s outlook next season.

Whittingham on Dorian Singer potentially returning to Utah Football in 2025
“Yeah, that’s being worked on,” Whittingham said. “Dorian Singer would like nothing more than a return with us.”
Since adding Devon Dampier, Singer has made it abundantly clear that he would like to return in 2025. He has submitted an official waiver request to the NCAA. Given what has transpired recently in the NCAA with other eligibility issues, the possibility of him receiving a season of eligibility back seems decent.
“You’ve got to have a case; you’ve got to have reasons why, much like the young man at Vanderbilt got his extra year,” he continued. I can’t give you percentages or anything like that, but I can tell you that it’s in process right now, and we’re trying every which way to see if we can get him one more year.”

The details or reasons for the waiver are still unclear, but it centers around his freshman season at Arizona. According to sources, there has been positive feedback on Singer’s waiver.
Beyond Singer’s own waiver process, the NCAA has been considering a big change that could lead to his return as well. Student-athletes have four seasons of eligibility plus a redshirt year (including a four-game buffer). The change being considered would lead to student-athletes simply having five seasons of eligibility.
“I know the NCAA is also talking about going five years to play five,” he said. “If that is, in fact, adopted, then what are the criteria, as far as how it’s implemented? We don’t know that yet, but the bottom line is we would love to have Dorian in the program for another year.”
Dorian Singer’s return would be significant for Utah
He was the top pass catcher for Utah this past season. A down year in terms of overall offensive production, largely due to injuries. Singer was, without a doubt, the top defensive priority for opponents.
Still, Singer found a way to haul in 53 receptions for 702 yards and 1 touchdown. For most of the season, Singer’s production kept him in the top 15 in receiving production within the Big 12.
Utah has added a number of receivers from the transfer portal. They’ve welcomed Creed Whittemore, Ryan Davis, Otto Tia, and Justin Stevenson into receivers room. Each comes to Utah with different levels of playing experience and production.
If Utah is able to welcome Singer back for 2025, it would be a rather significant boost for Utah’s outlook and could lead to an even better year for Singer.
