SALT LAKE CITY — In a season where Utah football’s identity was forged in the trenches, Spencer Fano and John Henry Daley emerged as two of the nation’s most decorated linemen — earning All-America honors that spotlight both sides of the ball for the Utes.

Both players were have earned multiple All-America selections:

Spencer Fano

  • CBS Sports – 1st Team OT
  • Walter Camp – 1st Team OL
  • AP – 1st Team OL

John Henry Daley

  • CBS Sports – 2nd Team Edge
  • Walter Camp – 1st Team DL
  • AP – 2nd Team DL

First Team selections, one of college football’s oldest and most prestigious All-America distinctions, places them among the elite performers in the 2025 season.

Utah was one of just two schools nationwide — and the only Big 12 program — with both an offensive and defensive lineman on the Walter Camp First Team, and one of two teams to do that between the CBS and AP First & Second teams.

Spencer Fano: All-American Offensive Tackle

For Fano, this All-American selection caps a season of pro-level dominance at offensive tackle. The Spanish Fork native has been the linchpin of an offensive line that propelled Utah to one of the most prolific offenses in the country, ranking near the top nationally in both overall yardage and rushing efficiency.

His body of work earned him Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year honors, Outland Trophy finalist status, and First-Team All-America recognition.

Fano’s ability to blend elite technique with high-end physical play has been reflected in advanced metrics all season. He allowed just a handful of pressures in more than 350 pass-blocking opportunities, didn’t surrender a sack all year, and graded among the top interior blockers in the nation according to Pro Football Focus.

This All-America status not only recognizes his 2025 performance, but also his sustained excellence — Fano was a preseason Walter Camp All-America First Team pick and enters the NFL draft conversation as one of the top offensive tackle prospects nationally.

John Henry Daley: All-American Defensive End

On defense, John Henry Daley’s breakout season was rewarded with First-Team All-America recognition as well. After transferring to Utah and climbing from a limited role in 2024 to a full starter in 2025, Daley became one of the most feared pass rushers in the country.

Before a late-season injury cut his year short, Daley was tied for the FBS lead in tackles for loss and ranked second in sacks, leaving an unmistakable mark on opposing backfields and underscoring his ability to change games with disruption from the edge.

While Daley’s numbers — 17.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks before injury — solidified his defensive impact, this All-America honor captures the leap he’s made from rotational player to national standout. His performance helped anchor a Utah defense that finished among the nation’s best in key efficiency metrics.

What This Means for Utah Football

The dual All-America status of Fano and Daley represents more than individual accolades: it symbolizes Utah’s resurgence as a program built from within the trenches, out.

In a sport where the most visible honors often go to skill-position players, these selections signal a broader respect for the Utes’ foundation of physicality, discipline, and technical excellence.

As Utah prepares for the Las Vegas Bowl and looks toward personnel transitions ahead of 2026, the All-America honors for Fano and Daley stand as pillars of the 2025 season — and clear markers of the talent and culture in Salt Lake City.

Utah has been built on player development. Fano’s rise from Freshman All-American to national award winner and All-American tackle is a blueprint for elite offensive line prospects to take note of. Meanwhile, Daley’s jump from situational contributor to one of the most disruptive edge defenders in the country will also garner the attention of recruits. Development isn’t a slogan in Salt Lake City — it’s what the process has always been about.

The Big Picture

All-Americans don’t just reflect great seasons. They reflect healthy programs. Fano and Daley being recognized nationally tells everyone watching that Utah Football is still doing what it’s always done — building toughness, developing talent, and earning respect the right way.
