Morgan Scalley Named Broyles Award Semifinalist

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Utes defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley has been named a semifinalist for the Broyles Award, which is given to the top assistant coach in college football.

Scalley has spent his entire coaching career at Utah, starting in 2006 as an administrative assistant. In 2007 he was promoted to defensive graduate assistant, before being promoted yet again in 2008 to safeties coach.

In 2016, following the departure of Kalani Sitake, Scalley became the defensive coordinator. He spent the past three years in the position creating one of the more formidable defenses in the country.

Scalley joins the following semifinalist for the Broyles Award:

The Utah alum has led the defense to be one of the best in the country. They lead the nation in allowing the least amount of rushing yards per game at 55.9, they are third in total yards allowed at 243.8, 17th in allowing 187.9 passing yards per game and are fourth in points allowed per game at 10.9.
