SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah men’s basketball team announced their 2019-20 non-conference schedule.

The Utes will play five games at home at the Jon M. Huntsman Center, one tournament, three neutral site games and one true road contest.

They will begin their campaign against the University of Texas-Tyler in exhibition play on October 30.

Utah will open the regular season on the road against Nevada on Tuesday, November 5. It will be the first season opener away from home since 1995 when the Utes faced Kansas in a neutral court game in Kansas City. It marks the first true-road season-opening matchup since 1976 when the Utes played Weber State in Ogden. Utah will face the Wolfpack for the 10th time in program history. They lost at home when Nevada was ranked No. 6, 86-71 on December 29, 2018. That was Utah’s first ever loss to Nevada.

Their home opener will be against Mississippi Valley State on Friday, November 8, followed by a clash with Minnesota at the Huntsman Center on Friday, November 15. It’s the fifth meeting between the Utes and Golden Gophers with Utah losing at Minnesota last year, 78-69. Utah is 2-2 all-time against the Gophers.

November 21-24, Utah will participate in the Myrtle Beach Invitational in Conway, South Carolina. They will open the 8-team tournament against Coastal Carolina. Utah will then face either Baylor or Ohio depending on the outcomes of both games. The Utes will play one more game on the 24th to round out the tournament.

Utah will return home to face UC Davis on November 29 and the BYU Cougars on December 4 for the 145 matchup between the rivals.

The Utes final non-conference home game will be on December 7 against Central Arkansas in their first ever meeting.

The final three non-conference games will be at neutral sites, beginning on December 14 in the Beehive Classic against Weber State at Vivint Smart Home Arena. On December 19, the Utes will face Kentucky for the 11th time at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

They will wrap up non-conference action on December 22 at the Staples Center against San Diego State. Utah is 54-19 all-time against the Aztecs.
