SALT LAKE CITY – The Utes pick up their third commitment of the weekend, as Midland Christian three-star offensive Rowdy Pearce announced his pledge to Kyle Whittingham’s Utah football program.

He is part of the final group of official visitors who are wrapping up their visits this weekend and becomes Utah’s ninth commit of the class.

Offensive lineman Rowdy Pearce commits to Utah football

Pearce stands at just over 6-foot-3 and weighs 285 pounds. He’s committed to Utah to play center, which are prototypical measurements for the position.

He holds a three-star rating from 247 Sports with an 86 grade and has drawn increased attention on the recruiting trail, earning 17 offers from programs including Utah, Houston, Vanderbilt, and Washington State.

Pearce was part of the group that included five-star OT Felix Ojo, four-star WRs Jaron & Kennan Pula, three-star DB Aisa Galea’i, three-star WR Perrion Williams, and three-star DB Dylan Waters.

He becomes Utah’s ninth commit of the class, joining running back LaMarcus Bell, edge Prestion Pitts, quarterback Michael Johnson, linebacker LaGary Mitchell, cornerback Major Hinchen, safety Carter Stewart, tight end Bear Fisher, and receiver Perrion Williams.

How does Rowdy Pearce fit with Utah football?

Pearce, who has pledged to Utah as a center, currently anchors the offensive line at tackle for Midland Christian. Transitioning to an interior role should play to his strengths.

His 6-foot-3, 285-pound frame and his physical, downhill approach are tailor-made for battling in the trenches. He flashes a violent blocking effort fairly consistently, but often locates a defender to engage and wins with hand placement and foot drive.

Pearce isn’t just a mauler at the line of scrimmage—he’s also adept at climbing to the second level, meeting linebackers in space, and finishing blocks with tenacity.

Pearce is not only a multi-sport athlete, he’s also a Texas state champion. Pearce is a state champion in both the shot put (57’11”) and discus (171’1″), showcasing his impressive lower-body explosiveness, balance, and coordination. As he adds functional strength and refines his technique, Pearce will develop into a really tough lineman.

Pearce was also named the TAPPS 5A Male Athlete of the Year, further highlighting his all-around athleticism and dominance across multiple disciplines.

All in all, Pearce has the qualities that Utah likes in a developmental lineman. Utah has plenty of need at offensive line, and Pearce is a good first addition to the position group’s future in this class.
