Utah Football To Retire No. 22 On Saturday During UCLA Game

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah announced that they will retire No. 22 this Saturday when the Utes face the UCLA Bruins at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Utah sent out a tweet announcing the move to retire their first number in program history. That number was recently worn by Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe. They will retire the number between the first and second quarter of Saturday’s game against the Bruins.
It’s among the many things that the University has done to honor the legacies of Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe.
This Saturday, between the first and second quarter, we will retire #22. We ask that all in attendance remain in their seats during this break.

Jordan was killed on Christmas night in 2020 in Denton, Texas, where he suffered an accidental gunshot wound. Lowe was best friends with Jordan as they both attended the same high school in Mesquite, Texas. The Utah defensive back was one of the main reasons that Jordan decided to attend the university after de-committing from Texas.
During this past offseason, Lowe switched his number from 2 to 22 to honor Jordan. He was also the first recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship.
Lowe was tragically shot and killed at a house party in Sugarhouse early in the morning of Sunday, September 26.
