SALT LAKE CITY – Is that Steph Curry or Issy Palmer? Utah’s junior point guard showed her range, hitting a half-court bomb at the buzzer.
The No. 7 Utah Utes hosted the Washington Huskies on Friday, February 10.

With Utah in front by 14 in the waning seconds of the first half, Palmer took the inbounds pass and made three dribbles before stepping into the jumper. With the clock winding down, Palmer stepped into the center of the block-U logo at midcourt and drained the 48-footer with ease.

In her third year with the Utes after transferring from the University of Texas, Palmer has played a crucial role for one of the nation’s top teams. Averaging 8.2 points and 2.5 assists per game, Palmer’s poise has been instrumental in conducting the Utes offense.
Utah holds a commanding 20+ point lead over Washington down the stretch.

The Utes have been on an impressive run since postseason of last year. That upward trajectory appears to have no stopping point.
Utah finished 2022 as runners up in the Pac-12 Tournament making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2011. 2023 is on pace to crush that.

Currently sitting at No. 7 in the country, they are enjoying their longest streak of consecutive weeks in the Top-25 in program history at 13. With a 20-2 record, the Utes currently sit tied for first in the Pac-12 with Stanford.

Earlier this week, Alissa Pili was recognized as the Pac-12 Player of the Week. Pili has also been named to several postseason award watch lists; the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 Watch List, Katrina McClain Midseason Watchlist and the Naismith Trophy midseason Watchlist. Pili leads the team in scoring (20.9, 1st Pac-12, 15th NCAA) and ranks 11th in the nation (1st Pac-12) in field-goal percentage (60.7%). She currently sits at No. 9 nationally in total made field goals with 184. Pili has also topped 1,000 career points.
