The Utes and Cougars were scheduled to play at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Thursday, September 3 but after the news on Friday that the Pac-12 will play a conference-only schedule, the rivalry game was canceled.
Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan answered a question from a fan on Twitter when asked if they will try and get BYU to play at Rice-Eccles Stadium in 2021.
No, we will resume the contract and go there in 2021. Nothing fair for anyone in all of this; just need to stay flexible and stay safe( and wear a mask, please!) https://t.co/Mlk4mLXMSa

“No, we will resume the contract and go there in 2021,” Harlan wrote on Twitter. “Nothing fair for anyone in all of this; just need to stay flexible and stay safe (and wear a mask, please!)”
Other tweets responded saying that Utah would “give up” the 2020 home game with BYU. In another tweet, Harlan said the two schools would work on getting a game in Salt Lake City with BYU.
“I imagine we will work together to add back the home game,” Harlan wrote. “Wouldn’t say give it up. We will figure it out as the two schools often do.”
The Pac-12 will announce schedule details no later than July 31.
