Zack Moss’ Status Remains Uncertain For Saturday, Not Season-Ending Injury

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – After suffering a shoulder injury in the second quarter in Utah’s 30-23 loss to the USC Trojans, Utes running back Zack Moss’ status remains uncertain heading into the Washington State game.
Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham usually never mentions injuries for any of his players unless they will miss the remainder of the season. Whittingham did confirm that Moss’ injury is not season-ending.
“We don’t ever talk about status for the game,” Whittingham said at his weekly press conference. “We just hope that everyone is there, so we hope everyone is ready. Why would you ever tip your hand to your opponent? That would make no sense at all. Until college football has an injury report rule or whatever, we just won’t do it. It just doesn’t make any sense.”

At the time of his injury, Moss had 20 yards on six carries before missing the rest of the game. He missed the final five games last season including the Pac-12 Championship game and the Holiday Bowl after suffering a knee injury.
“That was a physical game on Friday night,” Whittingham stated. “We took our bumps and bruises and got some guys banged up, but that’s for us to know and deal with and try to get the best guys out there on Saturday.”
The senior from Miami, Florida is currently in second place in school history in both rushing yards and touchdowns. He is 176 yards away from passing Eddie Johnson for the all-time leader in rushing yards and needs 5 touchdowns to pass Del Rodgers.
Utah will face the Washington State Cougars on Saturday at 8 p.m. on FS1.
